Mobile File Systems

In this project we are interested in producing clever mobile device file systems that are lightweight yet fully functional. Such file systems are secure and able to locate the needed file data resources on the WAN, prefetch and cache a working set of data for the mobile user, and automatically synchronize the data with other units and base stations. These file systems need to take into account various complex constraints: power consumption must be low, connectivity outside the mobile device is slow and unreliable, memory and storage space are small, CPUs are slow, there is often no MMU, and so on.
