System area academic research should be of practical usage to the industry to benefit the most.

A qualified system areas PhD student should be able to do wonderful research and develop.

System area research requires massive system experiences. Internship and communication are good ways to go.

I'm a third-year PhD student in Computer Science at the Stony Brook University. My advisor is Prof. Erez Zadok.

My research focuses on Green Storage and Operating Systems, Storage Systems Optimization with domain knowledge, Storage Services, and Software Engineering.

I received my Bachelar's Degree in Computer Science at Huazhong University of Science and Technology(HUST) with great honor.

I was awarded the "Best Paper Award for Bachelor Thesis of Hubei Province" back in 2009.

I enjoy to participate in the research activities in my fields. I have attended USENIX ATC'10, HotStorage'10, HotCloud'10, FAST'11, SOSP'11, and FAST'12.

During the winter break of 2009, I was working with Rick Spillane on "Exporting Kernel Page Caching for Efficient User-Level I/O". Specifically, I was focusing on the namespace implementation for User-Level I/O.

In the summer of 2010, I was continually working on the Green Project in the FSL.

During the summer of 2011, I enjoyed one beautiful summer internship program in DataDomain, EMC for power profiling in enterprise backup storage systems.

In the summer of 2012, I am going to do one another summer internship program in VMware, Palo Alto, CA, on performance optimization in the cloud environment.

I am a member of USENIX starting from June 2010.

I am a member of ACM starting from August 2011.

Teaching

I was the full-time Teaching Asistant for the ISE/CSE-311: System Administration in the Spring 2010 given by Prof. Erez Zadok.

I was the full-time Teaching Assistant for the CSE 506: Operating Systems class in the Fall 2009 given by Prof. Erez Zadok.
