Alexander,

What are you trying to do that gets you an EINVAL?  If you're trying to
manage branchs, then you no longer do that with unionctl: instead, use the
remount option to /bin/mount, with the right branch options.  See the file
Documentation/filesystems/unionfs/usage.txt for examples:
