By popular requests, we're pleased to announce back-ports of Unionfs 2.0 to
the following kernels:

linux-2.6.18.8 (first release, u1)
linux-2.6.19.7 (first release, u1)
linux-2.6.20.14 (first release, u1)
linux-2.6.21.5 (second release, u2)
linux-2.6.22-rc7-u1 (first release, u1)

The Unionfs code bases for all of these kernels are identical, and include
all of the features and fixes that are in the very latest 2.6.22-rc release.
The latest -rc7 release, compared to the previous -rc6 release, includes a
small fix to prevent a self-deadlock under unusual circumstances.

Back-porting the latest 2.6.22-rc code became increasingly harder the older
the kernel version we back-ported to, but I'm happy to report that we
managed to keep all of the same Unionfs 2.0 fixes and features going as far
back as 2.6.18. We had to port not just Unionfs, but also all of the
VFS-level stackable file system support infrastructure.

We've run as many tests as possible on these, and they all passes the same
exhaustive regression test suite we use. Still, we'd really appreciate
hearing back from those of you who plan on using kernels from .18 to .21
(even if it's just a "works for me" message :-)

As long as there continued to be demand for it, we'll endeavor to keep
supporting the last few stable kernels. Our recommendation, however, is
that you move up to the latest stable kernel as much as possible, because
the latest 2.6 kernels have a wider Unionfs user-base testing than the older
ones.

You can get all of these releases from

As usual, feel free to report all problems you find to

Enjoy.

Erez, on behalf of the Unionfs team.
