[Unionfs] Possible timestamp related problem.

Hi all,
I am using unionfs-2.1.10 on linux-2.6.23.8 to keep track of packages I install on my system. The system is simple. I merge a root filesystem (read only) and an empty dir (read/write). I then chroot into the resulting unionfs filesystem, build and installs whatever I need and when I'm done, I remove the unionfs mount and make a tarball out of the previously empty dir. I can then deploy the tarball as needed.
This works marvellously for the vast majority of packages. A few are causing problems though. I think that it is timestamp related and it may be the same problem as bugs #578 and #575.
Perl is one of the packages that fail to build from within unionfs/chroot as described above. Building it as follows:
./configure.gnu
make
... tells me that the build has changed and that I need to rerun make. This never happens when leaving unionfs out of the above equation.
Since the two bug reports above seem to indicate that this only happens under load and since my pc is severely vintage, you might need to run several parallel unionfs perl builds at the same time to trigger the bug.
You can get perl from here: http://www.cpan.org/src/README.html
I am more than willing to help out in any way I can. Questions, patches, etc. I can also get you remote access, but only if it is strictly needed.
Kind regards,
John
