Hi,

The Google Summer of Code program provides a $5,000 stipend per
student to improve a Free and Open Source software application of
their choice during the summer break. The program is open to all
undergraduate and graduate students in the US and throughout the
world. Google has been conducting the Summer of Code for the past
three years, and last year alone over 900 students were awarded
stipends. The type of work that the students can do is not limited to
computer programming, but also includes areas such as usability,
accessibility and artwork.

The deadline for submitting a proposal has been extended to Monday,
April 7, 2008 at 5:00 PM PDT. More information can be found at:

http://code.google.com/soc

Ideas for possible projects and instructions on how to participate in
the Google Summer of Code can be found at:

Please forward this information to undergraduate and graduate students
in your department, and university-wide if you think other students
might also be interested in applying.

Thank you,
Erik Warner
