Agreed, MIT's Debian mirror seems to be one of the best, second only to 
the local stony brook mirror on the galaxy cluster.

The northeastern mirror for Ubuntu however was ridiculously faster than 
MIT's Ubuntu mirror, IIRC. I wonder if there's some special arrangement 
between sbu and neu that makes for fast transfer speeds?
